In the three-minute video, Hands to Touch Molten Glass, a set of bronze hands is activated in the manner of the magician. Using both sleight of hand and lighting tricks, an ethereal visual spectacle is concocted. The technique of sleight of hand is used by magicians and alchemists to manipulate objects secretly. It uses the principles of simulation to give the impression that something has happened that has not. Bronze hands shrouded by the light of the glowing glass conjure notions of the otherworldly. Through artifact and lighting, the viewer is fused to the belief that the impossible has been made possible. For a brief moment one is joined to both the earthly and unearthly.
