The Spoils of Annwn

Robert Lehman Gallery at Urban Glass, Brooklyn, NY

May 24 to July 30, 2017

Inspired by a Middle Welsh epic poem, Preiddeu Annwn, this immersive installation references King Arthur’s mythical voyage to the Glass Fortress, home of the faerie folk. The tale is brought to life through surrealist glass sets, neon, video, light sculptures, and illustration.

The Beasts of Annwn light sculptures utilize different lighting technologies to bring to life different visual attribures. Amber LEDs for the Bird of Rhiannon that shines like the sun, White and red neon for the Hound of Annwn that glows like the moon on snow, and color-changing carnival LEDs for the ever-changing mottled feathers of the Hawk of Annwn.
